Field Operations & Flight Rules

GeneralMembers and Guests using the EFLFCC flying field must abide by the following rules.
Pilots and spectators must behave in a safe and sportsmanlike manner for safety and to preserve the use of this field for all. Report violations to a club officer.

This facility was built and is maintained by the EFLRCC members.
Membership is encouraged to help support the facility.
Laws & RegulationsFAA
EFLRCC operates as an FAA-Recognized Identification Area (FRIA).
 • RC Pilots must follow all FAA laws for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).
 • Any FAA Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR) strictly apply.

AMA
EFLRCC is sanctioned by the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) as a CommunityBased Organization (CBO) recognized by the FAA.
 • Pilots must understand AMA safety guidelines found in the AMA Safety Handbook.

US Army Corp of Engineers
EFLRCC operates under a permit from the US Army Corps of Engineers in the spillway of Harsha Lake.
 • Firearms and pyrotechnics are not permitted.

East Fork State Park
The EFLRCC flying field is within East Fork State Park.
 • Alcohol is not permitted.
 • Be respectful of other users and wildlife in the park.

Batavia Township
Noise restrictions from Batavia Township apply.
 
Pilot Training • Pilots are responsible to learn to fly their plane safely.
 • An experienced club member may be available to teach you using a buddy box.
 • Ask a club member for help before you get into trouble or hurt someone.
 • We recommend the use of a computer flight simulator as a good learning tool.
Flight Area & Hours • Before 11:30 AM and after dusk, use only quiet electric planes (Park Fliers).
 • Fly only in the area shown.
 • Do not fly behind the flight line or over park roads.

SafetyPre-flight
 • Program a throttle cut on your transmitter for safety.
 • Communicate with other pilots on take-off and landing direction.

Flight
 • Use the pilot cages for safety, especially when others are also flying.
 • Announce all take-offs, landings, touch-and-goes, and low passes loud enough for all pilots to hear.
 • Minimize your time on the runway.
 • If you cross the runway to hand launch, announce your crossing.
 • Do not fly behind the flight line (over the pit area).
 • Fly in a pattern consistent with take-off direction. (Left or Right-hand turns).
 • Use a spotter when necessary, such as when flying FPV.

Landing
 • Announce the direction of landing.
 • Announce dead-stick landings or other situations requiring an immediate return to the runway.
 • If an emergency is announced, stay clear of the airplane in question and the runway until it is clear.
 • If you need to retrieve a plane, announce your intentions to cross the runway. Announce again when you are clear of the runway by saying, “Clear!”

Common Sense
 • Use your common sense at all times to be safe.
 • Be courteous and communicate with other pilots.
 • Inform any spectators about propeller safety and runway crossing safety.
 • Take home your garbage and plane wreckage.
