Discussed the findings/measurements of the proposed driveway to the shelter. Steve and Randy took measurements by foot, with a drone, and took pictures of the proposed extension. Steve came up with the final renderings of our proposal. We all agreed that we can move forward with the proposal to the Corps of Engineers (COE). Steve agreed to have the proposal sent to Sam (COE) this week.
We also discussed the rough cost of the project. Rob mentioned that we have enough in the Club savings to cover the project but it would deplete nearly all of it. Rob was able to get a 20% discount on gravel/crushed concrete from Evans Landscaping. He is going to contact them again to see if he can get them to bend a little more. Currently, we don't have a final project cost estimate but we are working diligently to keep it as cost effective as possible.
Next we discussed Club Fly Days and fundraisers. We agreed that we will start having meetings on Club Fly Days once a month since the weather has gotten better. The idea of fundraisers came up to help offset the cost of the proposed driveway project. We are in agreement to not have any fundraisers until we get the final approval from the COE.
We then discussed a Memorial Day Club Fly. We have decided to have a Club event on Saturday 5/23/2026. We decided that there will be grilled food for this event.
Doug mentioned that someone had emailed him about flying a drone at the field to complete his class assignments. We are all in agreement to get more information from him but to encourage him to fly at the field.
Doug also talked about membership numbers. We have added quite a few new members in a short period of time but we need more. He mentioned a couple former members that he talked to in Lexington are thinking of rejoining.
Open items were general praise for the job everyone has been doing so far this year.
