Club Newsletter - Meeting minutes 2/22/26

Dan Carroll had a meeting scheduled for 2/22/26, but resigned his position.

Steve Staas set a new meeting for 1700 on 2/22/26.

Google Meets attendees were Doug Durham (VP), Randy Pointer (Events), Steve Staas (Website/Media) and Mike Zimmerman (Safety). Absent were Jim Jenkins (Secretary) and Rob Leonard (Treasurer).

The meeting agenda is listed below.

1. Moving the club forward after Dan Carroll resigned.

An email was sent to all club members asking for volunteers or nominees to fill the vacancy. The nomination period started 2/22/26 and will end 2/28/26. If we have multiple nominees, we will have an abbreviated election to decide. If only one nominee is presented, the position will default to that person.

2. Corps of Engineers update and moving forward with them.

We discussed the Lease Agreement and that we should setup a meeting with Sam (COE) to meet and greet with all the officers once we fill the President vacancy. We will also discuss with her on how to move forward with contruction of a path/driveway to the shelter.

3. Update on club progress and club financials.

We skipped this item since Rob was absent.

4. Setting up meetings with the local Scouts and Civil Air Patrol.

We discussed contacting local Scout troops and Civil Air Patrol to coordinate some club days or special days for these groups. Doug said he will reach out to the groups to get the ball rolling. Mike said that he will reach out to Josh Bixler (Flite Test) to secure some basic kits for them to build. We will discuss our findings in the next meeting.

5. Events for the year.

We discussed a club picnic, pylon racing, and an airliner day. We are all very excited to bring some new ideas and events to the filed this year.

6. Open items.

We will be bringing back the Dan Zeis award. This award will be presented to someone who embodies the spirit of the RC hobby. Mike will be heading this up. He and Dan were buddies, so it only makes sense that he head it up. We will have more information in an upcoming newsletter/email.
